There are many desperately poor families trying to scratch out a living here in Appalachia.  I want you to meet one.

 

Mary just had both feet amputated.  Her diabetes had gotten out of control. 

 

Adjusting to life without feet is taking a toll on her.  When she came home from the hospital she found that her wheelchair wouldn’t even fit through the bathroom door!  Living alone, she had to abandon showers for sponge baths, and use a portable toilet.

 

Worst of all, is the HUGE expense of insulin and other diabetic medicines she must take to keep her diabetes under control.
